Antenna and AccessoriesThere are two types of GPS antennas available for the GPS referenced products supplied by Masterclock. The "basic" package is designed for installations where a short antenna cable (16'/5m) can be used. For installations where a longer antenna cable is required the "standard" package allows cable lengths up to 500'/150m. Operationally the antennas are equivalent. Both antennas are water/moisture resistant, with 26 and 32 db amplification respectively and are suitable for indoor or outdoor mounting. The difference between the two is the physical packaging, gain, mounting and the different lengths of antenna cable that can be used. See Antenna Installation (PDF) for discussion and questions concerning antenna mounting and location.
Shown below is the antenna and coaxial cable supplied with the basic GPS-referenced Masterclock equipment packages. The GPS-based product include the antenna with a built in magnetic mount, 16'/5m coaxial cable with a SMA connector installed and any necessary adapters. This antenna can be mounted
either in or outdoor where it is exposed to the sky. If indoor it must
be mounted in or at the edge of a window. The optional antenna mounting
bracket can be used as a base for mounting the antenna on or near a
window glass or frame. Cable ties and double sided tape is provided
with the bracket for mounting on a glass window pane. If a longer coaxial
cable is required see Standard Antenna Kit below.

Note 1 - The antenna bracket is supplied with a dual sided adhesive pad for mounting on inside surfaces, including glass. The bracket has holes for mounting the antenna and attaching it to a wall or surface with screws (not included). Hole spacing allows the bracket to be fastened to a flat surface or clamped to a pipe using two nylon cable ties.
Note 2 - All Masterclock GPS receiving devices use either a TNC or SMA connector (jack) for connecting to an external antenna. When 1/2" cable is used and is routed to the receiving device, because of the weight and size of the cable, there could be undesirable mechanical tension or force applied to the receiver connector. This would be particularly true in restricted areas where an adequate bending radius is not possible for the cable. In such cases it is recommended that a "pigtail" section of coaxial cable be used to connect from the larger cable to the receiving connector. These pigtail sections are fabricated using Beldin 8219 cable and are shipped with approprate connectors installed.
