Time Behind and Beyond the Clock
A Presentation on Time and Timekeeping.
In April of 2024, Masterclock CEO John Clark and Chief Scientist Dr. Demetrios Matsakis delivered a wide-ranging presentation on time and timekeeping to the Liebman Institute for Science Innovation (LISI) at McHenry County College. “This was an opportunity to step back and discuss not just the mechanics behind our timing devices, but the history and evolution in our understanding of one of the most fundamental aspects of our existence, in front of a likeminded audience” Clark said.
The audience was primed by Clark’s introduction oj time and timekeeping before being pulled down the rabbit hole with Dr. Matsakis as he covered topics including the definition of time, Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, Metaphysical Time, and Quantum Mechanics.
The Masterclock presentation, titled “Time Behind and Beyond the Clock,” served as the inaugural event to the newly-founded LISI Lecture Series. Led by LISI Director Marla Garrison, LISI's goal is to explore the world—from the grassroots to the global—through science. As stated on the LISI website: “Together, we share how science is in everything, and everything is in science.”
“John & Demetrios helped launch our new science institute with a mind-opening presentation to a packed and enthusiastic house.“They fed the curiosities of all ages and left them eager to learn and imagine more. In true LISI spirit, these two pioneers explored the frontiers of Time and showcased how science fuels innovation and how innovation drives our lives” Garrison said.
